Could a Comet Hit the Earth and Trigger a Tsunami in the Atlantic?

Currently we have a Comet which has broken up and whose fragments will be flying by Earth. Do not worry no fragments of any large size are expected to hit the Earth so we are safe. But what if a similar scenario in the future occurred and one did? Well sure that could happen and we occasionally here about large asteroids, meteors and Comets passing or whizzing by Mother Earth.

Now then some people are predicting this latest Comet and its fragments to hit Earth? Most people including NASA say “No Way, not even close” and most scientists are calling it just conspiracy theory and science fiction. Nevertheless; you know anything is possible and fragments of that Comet could possibly hit the Earth although for them to do so is a long shot really. If one of many fragments came into the Earth at just the right angle there could be enough left to cause an issue.

What kind of an issue? Well if it hit in the ocean it could cause a large oceanic movement right? If on land it could cause a huge crater, dust storm, explosion or even trigger an Earthquake or volcano somewhere? If it landed near a large population, well that could be quite troubling too; luckily this is not going to happen this go around with this Comet but it will happen someday, as the Earth geological record shows it has happened many times in our past. During our lifetimes; well doubtful, so be careful what you read out there when people try to scare you. Consider this in 2006.
