Google Earth Free Version

During the online poll run on WebProWorld forum 50% of the respondents reported that they were not using local versions of Google to find local web sites.

Poll Details.

Poll question was the following: "Do you use Google for local searches or prefer local version of Google?"

The additional explanation to the poll provided bigger interpretation of the question asking if people were using Google.com for local searches (just specifying the country or local region in the search string) or preferred using the local version of Google?

According to the poll results 50% of the voters said that when searching for local results they do not use the local version of Google.

As the poll was run in the form of online post on forum, people could not only vote, but also post their comments. And according to these comments it is possible to say that:

(1) UK surfers are very loyal to their local version of Google.

(2) Part of the surfers was not using the local version because they simply did not know about this option.

Poll Impact on Online Business.

The conclusion that 50% of the surfers do not use the local versions of Google for their local searches is very serious for those online businesses that try to target local markets. They cannot afford to lose this share of the market, because they are potential buyers and/or subscribers.

That is why it will help you to catch this type of surfers if you - when working with your web site - focus NOT ONLY on putting niche keywords into text elements of the site (headlines, URLs, alt texts of images, content of pages) BUT ALSO include the keywords that specify the locality of the business (country or state or region or city or town or street or all of them together). Google will be indexing your pages and will "attach" the niche keywords to the keywords of your region. And those who will be doing the search in international version of Google will find your web sites in the list of search engine results.
